The future of Artificial Intelligence is safe as it is getting a lot of attention from investors these days. The benefits associated with the technology are very impressive. AI has the potential to change everything from cloud to computing. Here are some interesting facts:
1. Artificial Intelligence Is All Around Us
It’s a proven fact based on today’s tech world scenario. This is one of the most common facts about artificial intelligence and yet many people still find it hard to believe. But, the fact is, we already have AI technology surrounding us, seamlessly managing various technology in no time. A great example of AI can be seen in our different means of transportation, like in airplanes in the form of ATC (Air Traffic Control). In addition to this, there are many other examples like driver less cars, connected homes, smart appliances, AI-based mobile apps, etc. that we use in our day-to-day lives.
2. Nautilus - The Future Teller
Nautilus is a supercomputer that holds the capability to make predictions about the future based on the news articles that are fed to it. Basically, Nautilus is more like a self-learning machine that came into the limelight when it was able to locate one of the biggest terrorists of all time, Osama Bin Laden within 200 km. Currently, scientists are working on this supercomputer to see if it can predict more actual future events instead of the ones that have already occurred. This AI device is the biggest example of technology advancement and usage.
3. AI: A Fierce Board Game Player
Yes, you read it right! IBM’s chess-playing AI-based computer, Deep Blue made headlines when it defeated the presiding world champion, Garry Kasparov in the year 1997. In another instance, two artificial intelligence (AI) programs have finally proved that they can beat human professional card players. The AI-based programs knew when to hold and when to fold their cards while playing one of the most popular games.,This AI duo from the company DeepStack won by avoiding abstracting data while only calculating a couple of steps ahead instead of going for the approach of planning the entire game. The AI program continued to recalculate its algorithms as new information about the player move was acquired by it.
and ofcourse there are many more....
Data & AI in Film Creation
Big players like Netflix and Amazon are using big data and artificial intelligence (AI) to create perfectly tailored entertainment for its subscribers – and to help us find it. In 2016, 20th Century Fox paired up with IBM Watson and used AI to create ‘the perfect’ movie trailer for sci-fi horror film “Morgan”. And that same year, Benjamin, an AI software agent developed by researchers at NYU, created the short film “Sunspring”. AT&T Foundry’s Future of Entertainment Report from last year concludes that “Algorithms will enable a new world of storytelling”.
The M&E industry has been buzzing with use of big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning, but can movies be improved or even created through science? And if so, how…?
In this double feature, experts from The Fiction Lab and ScriptBook will present concrete and successful use cases demonstrating the use of data and AI in film creation and where these technologies could take us in the future of making movies and cinema.
